Learn how to make delicious Mangalorean Banana Buns using maida (all-purpose flour).
Ingredients:
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 2 cups maida (all-purpose flour)
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 cup curd/yogurt
- 2 tbsp oil
- Oil, for frying
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
- Add maida (all-purpose flour), baking soda, salt, sugar, curd/yogurt, and oil to the mashed bananas. Mix everything together to form a smooth dough.
- Cover the bowl with a cloth and keep it aside for 2-3 hours to let the dough ferment. (If you are in a hurry, you can skip this step and start making the buns immediately).
- Once the dough has fermented, knead it again for a minute or two.
- Divide the dough into small portions and roll them into small balls.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, flatten each ball of dough slightly and carefully add it to the hot oil.
- Fry the banana buns until they turn golden brown, turning them occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- Once done, remove the banana buns from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
- Serve hot with a cup of tea or coffee.
